Tomorrow (or rather today) I start my new job! It’s at a local up-and-coming film company and it wouldn’t have happened had I not become passionate about production due to my YouTube account. It’s been a strange ride and I’m not sure where all these open doors are ultimately leading… but I just keep walking through them one at a time.
I sat next to a CBS correspondent on my flight home from the debate and we chatted for an hour about the future of television and politics… I got to hear some amazing stories from his foreign correspondence gigs that often took him to the Middle East for extended visits. I gave him my card (something I’d created & printed before the debate for just such an occasion), which had my site on it and told him to check out my videos and let me know what he thought. A couple of days later he sent me an e-mail encouraging me to pursue broadcasting – something that could combine my love of politics and video production. Definitely an interesting thought!
For now I’m happy to start my new job… I need to complete my thesis and then if I find extra time I might consider an internship at a TV station or something along those lines – we’ll see what doors open & then just go from there. =)

ryc: At least one was nominated from the floor and came in third for Ass’t Sup’t for the first time, so the ice is definitely breaking up. Our new AGHM Director is a man of color which is also a first, so things are shifting.

You brat. I created and printed your business card in the middle of the night because of your insolent whining!

A broadcaster! What a great idea! I think he is totally right. You look great on TV plus your smart and passionate about your politics. YUCK….but your still my favorite sis!

Well done Brady! Perhaps you, Crawford, and myself can get together for celebrations involving the eating of caramels or small cucumber sandwiches.

Maybe you can be another Jamie Tarabay. I have always dug her reporting, and she is very cool. Her book is ok, check it out: http://www.amazon.com/Crazy-Occupation-Eyewitness-Intifada/dp/174114650X

Esther B that is wonderful!!! I totally watched your Youtube debate coverage and I thought it was fantastic. I even thought to myself, “Self, Esther would make a great newscaster or sometype of TV personality…” Kudos!! I think you will replace Ann Curry on the today show.

You should! You have a pleasant camera presence, a decent voice, you are clearly very clever and confident but not overbearing or falsely chipper, and you have an education and a perspective that a lot of reporters might not have.
