Going to Los Angeles

I tend to have crazy news to share just about every time I call my mom – tonight was no exception. The past year has had a lot of unexpected twists and turns, many as a result of YouTube… to recap – I’ve been interviewed and featured on several websites, was given back-stage access at a presidential debate, have had my videos appear in university classrooms, started doing short appearances on FOX News, changed career directions entirely… and today I got word that I’m being flown to LA on Thursday (as in… two days from now) to meet with the advertising agency for Weight Watchers to discuss creative ideas for having me appear in potential commercials and webspots.

Uhm… yeah….. crazy and exciting.

I really don’t know exactly where this is all leading but I just keep going with the flow. It’s been hilarious to me and incredibly fun to see that so many of the things I’ve put my heart & energy into are producing fantastic opportunities. No doubt there is also an element of luck involved – I’m by no means unique and am grateful that others have seen something in me that I haven’t always seen in myself… life is too short to not take chances and attempt to make a splash – it doesn’t always work out but it’s always an interesting ride.

Hey Esther, I’m in Texas for the winter.  Congrats on all the awesome stuff going on in your life.  The world has definitely discovered you, and I’m super impressed that you’re not letting it all go to your head.  Your “It Could be You” video was really sincere.

    Dear Esther,

I am thrilled for you!!!  I appreciate your humility, but in truth, I do believe you are special.  Of course not to diminish the rest of humanity, but you shine much brighter than faintstarlite might imply.  Those with eyes to see have seen you for years, we have been blessed, and we have been inspired, and we have been proud, so very very proud of you!!!

You’re unique Esther! You’re very unique. You’re a lot like life, you’re short with some unpredictable results.
It’s fun to watch all you go though with the youtube and Fox News and now possibly this. Maybe best of all…you’re not quite as frightening as Nick. :P Maybe you could, I don’t know, maybe get him to work a little more. He’s not nearly busy enough.
Seriously though, let’s get some falafel or something one of these days, the three of us, eh?
