Thanks to everyone who prayed and/or sent me well wishes online
& through phone calls… it was quite a scary afternoon for sure. If
you aren’t comfy with bodily functions this is probably where you ought
to stop reading. :)

I was waiting for a meeting to start down in the Third Ward, and
since I had a few minutes I ran into the bathroom and that’s when the
drama started… I looked down and saw red blood. Some of it in the
toilet, some on the toilet paper. My heart sank and my hands trembled
as I wrestled with what it could mean. My first thought: this CAN’T be
happening. The past week or two I had finally stopped worrying 24/7
about miscarriage – we were supposed to be way out of the woods by this
stage.

I called the emergency line at my OB’s clinic and shared what had
just happened. The nurse took my info down and said she’d have a chat
with my doctor and call me back. While waiting I talked to Nick and
filled him in the situation – a few minutes later my doctor told me to
immediately go to her office for an evaluation.

While sitting in the waiting room I updated my Facebook status
asking for prayer, and a few minutes later I was whisked away for an
ultrasound and exam.

The rapid flitting of Tiny’s heartbeat immediately popped up on the
screen and I finally started breathing normally again… our baby was
still there and kicking all over the place. It turns out the bleeding
was just normal pregnancy stuff – everything including the placenta and
the baby was 100% intact and healthy.

Despite the fear and chaos, Nick arrived in time to see the end of
the ultrasound (although he missed when Tiny waved) and we ended up
finding out the gender with about 80% certainty.

So … all is well with mama & baby… thanks again for all the love. :)
