Now that I’ll be heading into the 3rd trimester next week we’re trying to answer some of those first few questions we’ll face … and since we’re having a boy, one big one is whether or not to get him snipped.
We’re going to such great lengths to have a natural birth in our home, and yet, we’ve had some trouble coming to a consensus on this aspect of our birth plan – clearly circumcision is not the way nature intended, but we don’t want to set our son up to face ridicule as an adolescent or adult.
Doing an informal survey among friends we’ve both been surprised to hear that most people have advising us against it, and so maybe we’re wrong – perhaps the societal tide is turning against this practice.
At this stage we just want to inform ourselves and hear from others, so that when the time comes in a few months to make that choice we do it with eyes wide open.

Thank you for posting this!!! I think what you did changed how I feel. You said “clearly circumcision is not the way nature intended”, as an American Female I never thought of it that way. Thanks to you and reading this I don’t want to circumcise my child, that is… when I get a husband and then get pregnant and then find out I had a boy. Your husband was understanding though and I don’t think many other cut man would allow their son not look like then in their pants. I can’t believe any husband or wife would want to hurt their newly born child.

Leave it! There is no pain control, and the somebabies pass out due to the extreme pain… no way would I ever do it. If he wants it done one day he can have it done under Anesthesia. It really is cruel, but it is your choice. good luck to you try to get your hands on some video of it being done, i think this will seal the deal to leave it

I left that decision to my husband and told him whatever he decides I will go with it. it is interesting because where I come from, babies are not circumcised. Circumcision is a rite of passage and some communities do it when the boy is about to become a teenager.
